So do you really listen to the people you put in your top lists for rappers/groups?

Like most people usually add rakim, slick rick, kool g rap, etc. But do you honestly listen to their music like that? Do you own a CD from most or all of the people you have in your top lists, or do you just put those people in your top lists because everyone else does?

  1. I dont like most Kool G Rap and Slick Rick's music. I am a Rakim fan though. I don't think most people realize there is a big difference between HIP HOP's top ten and YOUR top ten.
  2. Of course I do. Fukc the majority! I think Tupac's overrated. He's not in my top 15, and I don't listen. I own the entire discography of The Roots, (my favorite hip hop artists) and like over 90% of their songs. I also have Common and Nas's entire catalog. I own most of Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Lupe Fiasco's stuff. and other than that, it's assorted albums here and there.

  4. Top 10 lists are for clownshoes. It's such a personal contemplation with no feasible evidence to withhold an argument. It's essentially an uninspiring exercise in creating added controversy, much like debates over religious matters. Everyone has their opinions, can't we leave it at that?
  5. I do... I have 4 Rakim cds I have 2 slick rick cd and Kool G doesnt make my top ten but I got one of his too. I'm old school.
  6. I have mostly vinyl from the old skool artists and I do indeed listen to them. I think I might be a bit different because those are the artists I actually grew up on and so they are "my favorites". They bring back those "happy times" and "memories".   8. I do listen to my top rappers/groups,dont own their cds tho,but i have em on my comp
  9. I only listen to Rakim out of those 3, you forgot to add Big Daddy Kane almost everybody has him on their list.
  10. Of course I do. Thats why its MY top 10.
  11. I do, thats why i never have biggie or pac in my top list
  12. yup I refuse to put artists in my top ten simply out of respect. Rakim may be the most influential rapper of all time but he's not on my top ten simply because I prefer Sean Price to Rakim (or whoever. you get the idea)
